Posset Singers
Posset Singers is a friendly community choir based in Portishead, run by the members, for the benefit of its over 50 members. It aims to be inclusive and welcoming to people from 16 years upwards whatever their musical ability, music is provided but reading music is not a requirement (many of our singers do not read music). We learn by ear and auditions will not take place. The music sung includes a cappella arrangements of rock, pop, soul, folk, musical theatre, film music and festive songs in the autumn term. A main objective for the choir is to perform in public at appropriate events. Whilst making music together is the founding principle, the choir aims to do so in a manner which promotes friendship and togetherness, to this end the organisation of regular social events is also an important objective. We also fundraise for local charities.
New members are welcome, if you are considering joining, please come along to any session to see if you will enjoy singing with us, your first session is free. If you have any questions, then please e-mail us at possetsingers@gmail.com. The very best time to join is at the beginning of a term, but as there are mp3 recordings for all of the parts, for all of our songs on Dropbox, you can catch up with the rest of the choir on songs we already know. You can listen and learn in your own time. There will always be some songs you will need to catch up on, as we do carry songs over from previous terms.
